Naming conventions are extremely important for identifying winning ads in third party tracking softwares or Google Analytics. That's why we've made easy to use dynamic templates and variables to help you have uniform naming conventions with ease when publishing a significant amount of ads.
Now, you can easily format your campaigns, ad sets, and ads, ensuring clarity and organization across your advertising efforts.
Let's overview how it works:
Once you get to the ad launch, expand the Campaign & Tracking dropdown. You will see the following:
You will notice dropdown icons placed beside each label. Once you click on it, a new dropdown modal will show up:
For the Campaign level name format label, there are three options to check:
Defaults: Here is where we store AdCopy default (and recommended!) naming convention:
{{Current Date}} | {{Conversion Shortcode}} | {{Offer Name}} | {{Campaign Type}}
These template variables will store and display the specific info from your ad account along the the date and time. You can also manually change the order of appearance.
The example output of the Campaign would be:
2024/07/16 | PUR | Your Offer Name from AdCopy | CBOTime period: Allows you to insert timestamps of the current year, current month, current day, current date, and current time.
Campaign: Here you can choose campaign-specific variables like Offer Name, Conversion Objective, Ad Account ID, Campaign Type, and Conversion Shortcode.
For the Ad Set level name format label, there are additional Ad Set specific naming templates:
Campaign ID - {{Camapign ID}}
Ad Set ID - {{Ad Set ID}}
Objective - {{Objective}}
Conversion Event - {{Conversion Event}}
Age range - {{Age Range}} - this will represent the range set in the AdCopy Targeting & Delivery section > Age Range
Gender - {{Gender}} this will represent gender set in the AdCopy Targeting & Delivery section > Gender
Copy Variation - {{Copy Variation}}
Creative variation - {{Creative Variation}}
Default AdCopy format is:
{{Current Date}} | {{Conversion Shortcode}} | {{Offer Name}} | {{Creative Variation}}{{Copy Variation}}
with the example output:
2024/07/16 | PUR | Offer Name | C1V1
Finally, for the Ad level name format label there are ad-specific options:
Headline - {{Headline}}
Ad Name - {{Ad Name}}
Creative Name - {{Creative Name}}
You can type all of these template variables manually without using presets; however, please keep the following in mind:
All template variables must start with opening
{{
and end with closing}}
brackets. There should be no space between the brackets and the text.Naming should follow camel case format, meaning each word starts with a capital letter.
Multiple words in template variables should be separated by spaces. For example:
{{Ad Set ID}}{{Ad Name}}
Our suggestion is to use AdCopy defaults. It will maintain consistency and organization across campaigns while allowing for easy updates based on the specific context of each launch.
